The connection between the novel and the real world is that this is a true story and people do live like this. It shows how people live in poverty throughout their lives and have to survive through it all. It also connects with the homeless because the parents chose to live like that. And that may be the case for many homeless people.
The connection between the book and the real world is that people really do live like this. Most of us may not even realize it because we live in a nice house with great families. It make me wake up and notice that people really do have money and family problems. This is why i like reading books like this.
